Let's try our hand at some free writing shall we? I was actually thinking about doing this earlier (mostly because I'm crunched for time but also because I didn’t have a single direction of thought for today's post) anyways, as I was thinking about what I wanted to write about today, by avoiding the process altogether and ’looking for inspiration’ online, I came across this.
So I thought, Perfect!! Let’s go with this wandering theme and see where it takes us.
Unfortunately, all day my mind has kept wandering back to the same thing
’Omg I have so much work to do.’
’Why am I not working right now?’
’Stress. Stress. Stress.’
And uggg I'm so tired of this!! I choose to not work today and spend my time with my best friend. We hadn't seen each other in WEEKS and I missed the crap out of her. She finally had some free time, so I wanted to take advantage of it.
My situation isn't dire right now. I have a lot to do, but I'm totally confident I can do it. If I wasn't then I wouldn't have taken the day off.
But here I am, laughing and having a blast with my bestie and all along there’s this constant little undercurrent of guilt floating in the back of my mind. I keep hearing ’you should be working, why aren't you working, you have a huge project due this week and if you want that stellar GPA you better stay on top of your shit!!’
But you know what?
SHUT UP SELF!!! You're going to be FINE!!! You know you're going to be fine. You take pride in your ability to get stuff done, and you're good at setting realistic goals!!!
Yes you’re busy, but guess what? YOU’RE PROBABLY GOING TO BE BUSY FROM NOW UNTIL YOU DIE!!
So.
GET IT TOGETHER WOMAN!! You can't freak out just because you're having fun before everything on your to-do list is checked off. It's OK. I give you permission to not always put work first.
Relax. You're still young and you're never going to be perfect. So do what you can and make the smart decisions about 80% of the time. You're still way ahead of the curve if you do.
Basically - I’m a crazy person. But yeah. I think I'm ok with that. *shrugs* Besides, the crazy people are the ones that have all the fun.
