I got hit with a serious dose of inspiration today. The story idea itself actually hit me in a dream a couple of nights ago, but for whatever reason the details of the plot started to come out today. It’s been so long since that's happened, since I’d felt a creative urge of that strength, and man oh man, do moments like that feel good.
Sitting down and having it feel like words are just being sucked right from your soul... Ahhh... Such bliss.
Storytelling at its finest!!
When moments like that hit, you just have to ROLL with it. You have to honor the moment of creativity. I basically had to drop all the work I had planned for today and write.
If you don’t put the inspiration first, that moment will pass and the juices of creativity will dry up faster that a drop of water in theSahara !! I’ve made that mistake before and I definitely regretted it afterward.
I often get really focused on tasks, accomplishing those tasks, and working hard. But, if you want to live an inspired life, like I want to do, I just can’t be that way all the time. I have to be willing to be flexible and open to the radical impulses of creativity.
